2020-2021 SCECH PROCESS

MANS is pleased to be the SCECH sponsor for nonpublic schools. To accommodate MDE requirements as of July 1, 2020, MANS has put together an enhanced program for the 2020-2021 academic year.*

Online Platform

Beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year, MANS is moving all SCECH documentation to an online platform. Each program has an associated Google form for participants to fill out to earn SCECHs. When required, supporting documentation may be emailed to Shelley Long at slong@m-a-n-s.org. Either scan documentation as a PDF or send a link to the documents using Google Drive, Sharepoint, etc.

Note: all personal information is held in a secure spreadsheet accessible by MANS staff only.

In and Out-of-State Professional Development

MANS has a MDE approved program to accommodate all PD hours earned at in and out-of-state conferences, workshops, online classes, etc.

ADMINISTRATORS – step one: send Shelley Long at slong@m-a-n-s.org information on your PD, such as a class syllabus, description, workshop agenda, etc., and how many SCECHs this program will qualify for. Remember only time spent on secular material is MDE approved. If you have several months or a year’s worth of PD planned, you may send that in a spreadsheet, as a Google drive link, etc.

ADMINISTRATORS – step two: after the event concludes, the person in charge of the PD fills out ONE Administrator Approval From with all the names of the educators seeking SCECHs. You may want to have those seeking SCECHs sign-in or out so you have a list of names.

Administrators approving SCECH request please fill out one form and submit within 30 days following the end of the event.

 

EDUCATORS – step one: those seeking SCECHs fill out the form below.

EDUCATORS – step two: for online classes or events attended outside of your school or diocese, send Shelley Long at slong@m-a-n-s.org proof of attendance (certificate of completion, reflection, handouts acquired, etc.). Also required is an agenda or documentation which shows how much time was spent to determine the correct number of SCECHs. Know that not all of your time spent equals SCECH hours.

Educator seeking SCECHS please fill out this formand submit within 30 days following the end of the event. The processing fee will vary based on the number of SCECHs being requested.

Accreditation Site Visit Teams

MANS has a MDE approved program to cover accreditation site visits. Participants may earn 25 SCECHs.

School Committees/PLCs
This program is on hold while MDE determines how they are handling School Committees/PLCs. Please look for more information soon!

MANS has applied for a MDE program to cover school committees/PLCs. Once approved, participants may earn 25 SCECHs per year. The qualifications will remain the same as previous years.

SCECHs for Mentoring
This program is on hold while MDE determines how they are handling School Committees/PLCs. Please look for more information soon!

MANS has applied for a MDE program to cover mentoring. Once approved, when you mentor a new teacher, student teacher, or new administrator, you may earn 25 SCECHs per semester. Look for more information once the final approval has been received.

SCECH Processing Fees

MANS charges SCECH processing fees based on the number of SCECHs you are applying for. Recently, the MANS Board of Directors approved that these charges remain the same as they have been since 2014. The fee range is:

  • 1 to 5 SCECHs is $10
  • 6 to 10 SCECHs is $20
  • 11 to 20 SCECHs is $40
  • 21+ SCECHs is $50

Payment of the SCECH processing fees may be made by check or by requesting an invoice for payment by credit card. Individual or school checks to cover one or all participants are acceptable. Please be sure to list all applicant names included in the bulk payment. Individual or multiple participant invoices are also available.
